添付の趣旨文について、海外の先生方に発言をお願いし、critical toolとしての「想像力」を鍛えることの意味、現代の「多」を構成するさまざまな境界の引き方とその構造、他者理解の可能性とその限界について、意見交換を行います。学生のみなさんも話し合いに参加し、自由に発言して下さい。積極的な参加を呼びかけます。

Project Objective:
In our globalizing society, we are faced with more urgency than ever before with the question concerning the possibility of multi-cultural, multi-ethnic co-existence. In our project we will place a particular focus on the role of creative imagination as having the potential to breakdown or overcome the borders that have defined, or so deeply influenced, our ways of thinking since the beginning of the modern era. By conceptualizing imagination as a kind of a critical tool, we will examine both the pitfalls and the emancipatory aspects of globalization, which is quickly permeating our everyday life. In doing so, we will also look into our historical past, our common cultural heritage and the trajectory of the modern at the fringe of which we find ourselves. Through our activities, we wish to explore, through the training of our imaginative competence, various possibilities of opening up to, relating to, approaching, understanding and sharing with peoples of "other" cultures and societies.

経済的価値が牽引するグローバル化とグローバル化がもたらす文化的多様化・多元化のなかで、他者・異文化へと創造的に開かれた想像力を構築し鍛錬することの重要性がますます高まっている。本プロジェクトでは、「多文化共生と想像力」を中心的な問題関心に据え、そうした想像力の鍛錬のための実践的な導入を行う。ここでいう「多」の構成単位とは国民国家や民族、言語等に限定されるものではなく、ジェンダーや身体性、社会的強者と弱者といった様々なかたちでの線引きがもたらす「多」のあり方をも射程に入れるものである。境界の引き方そのものへの批判的な視座を獲得し、一方で、均質化の圧力としてはたらくグローバル化に抗するために、境界への眼差しを鍛えることによって、差異と向き合い、「共生」のあり方を模索し、そのための実践知を探ることを目的とする。

なお、2014年度は、"Critiquing Diversity"をテーマとして活動を展開する予定である。
