Call for Applications: “3rd East Asian Conference for Young Sociologists” at Tohoku University, Japan, 2017

The Educational Project 4 "Producing Multicultural Communities: Methods, Design, and Praxes" is pleased to invite applications for "3rd East Asian Conference for Young Sociologists" hosted by Tohoku University, which will be held on February 6th and 7th, 2017 in Sendai, Japan.

The purpose of this conference is to provide scholars and graduate students with opportunities to present their own research associated with sociology or related disciplines. Participating Universities/Institute are National Taiwan University (Taiwan), Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica (Taiwan), Yonsei University (South Korea), Tohoku University (Japan), Hokkaido University (Japan), and The University of Tokyo (Japan). Three to four young sociologists will be invited from each organization to make a presentation of their research.

Few academic meetings featuring young scholars in East Asia have been held so far in this region. This conference encourages them to present and share their own ideas through critical discussions with scholars who share the same interests. This regional project will provide a platform where young scholars in sociology in East Asia develop a mutual understanding and expand their perspectives.
